Aaron Donald, Pittsburgh casts its yearning eyes to you, and here is how the Rams can win the Super Bowl

… Steeler fans pulling for the L.A. Rams

As is my custom, I refuse to watch any Super Bowl in which cheaters are featured. Therefore, I have not watched any in which the New England Patriots are involved.

However, this one, like last year’s, is vital to the Pittsburgh Steelers. If they win, they tie the Steelers with six, and out guys won fair and square, unlike Spygate and Deflategate and giving another team no chance to win in OT because of a coin toss.

So, we Steeler fans are looking to you, Aaron Donald, the wonderful NFL Defensive Player of the Year, to pull this off. You will have to put tremendous pressure on Tom Brady and take him down at times.

Here is how the Rams can win.

Tangibles

The Pats have played a weaker schedule, and remember, they played the AFC Championship Game against a team with the 31st-ranked defense in the league — yet that team, the Chiefs, took them to OT and could have won if the NFL Offensive Player of the Year had been given the ball. Thanks, Mike Tomlin and the rules committee for the most idiotic OT rules in football.

Second, look at some numbers. The Pats defense is ranked 21st in the NFL. So, to win, the Rams have to control the time of possession. Run the ball with Gurley and use the short passing game. They are susceptible there.

Third, on offense, the Patriots are number 4 and the Rams number 2 according to Pro Football Reference of the regular season. Therefore, the Rams’ defense must neutralize the Pats’ running game, too. That was how they beat the Chiefs, but the Rams’ front four could neutralize that NE offense overall. That is where Donald must help. He must dominate!

Fourth, the Rams have Gurley, one of the top five backs in the league. They have to establish the running game. They averaged 134 yards per game, second only to the Ravens.

Fifth, they have a major advantage on special teams. They are fifth in the NFL, while the Pats are 21st. They could really use a special teams TD to help their cause.

Sixth, everybody in America outside a slim portion of the Northeast wants the Rams to win — perhaps a sliver of New Orleans may still be upset, but it is small. So, the prayers today were fervently on behalf of the Rams.

Okay, God does not give a damn who wins this game. The last one was a joke. However, the first ones are right on.

Rams 28, Pats 24
