A.J. Leahey, former Lilly and Penn Cambria athlete, finishes superb career at UPJ

… sixth in scoring, fourth in rebounding

Athletes always enjoy completing their careers with some prestigious accomplishments, and A.J. Leahey did that with the Pitt-Johnstown men's basketball team.

Leahey was named to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)-West first team all conference for the third consecutive season. He led the Mountain Cats in scoring (532 points, 17.7 per game) and rebounding (6.8 rpg) this season. He was also one of the top 3-point percentage leaders in Div. II this year.

Leahey finished his career at UPJ in fifth place all-time in scoring with 1,539 points and fourth in rebounding with 699. He was also fourth in 3-point field goals with 240.

In addition to his outstanding performance on the court, A.J. has also excelled in the classroom. He was named to the 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America Div. II Academic All-American second team last month. He had previously been a first team All-District selection.

A.J. has a 3.6 grade-point average in Applied Mathematics.

A native of Lilly, A.J. graduated from Penn Cambria in 2013. He is the all-time leading scorer for the Panthers with 1,667 points and is also the leading rebounder (1,002) for the school. He was a first-team all-state selection to the AP AA team in 2013.

The Panthers also won the District 6-AA title in his senior season.

Congratulations to A.J. for all his basketball and academic accomplishments.
